MEN’S SOCCER FINAL

The men’s soccer final at Intervarsity 2009 took place on Saturday, 15 August at the Great Field. Rhodes took on NMMU, in a tightly fought contest.
In a dual which saw few opportunities created by each side in the opening stanza of the match, Rhodes laid down the gauntlet in the second half, with numerous scoring chances. The Rhodes team applied pressure as the midfield and strikers dominated the NMMU half of the field. The pressure applied by the Rhodes team eventually paid off, and they scored the solitary goal of the encounter, to win the match 1-0. Congratulations Team Rhodes!
