Intervarsity Round Up

By Litha Mpondwana

RUGBY

After a pulsating game of running rugby earlier in the day, which saw NMMU narrowly defeat a spirited University of Fort Hare side, the game between Rhodes and Walter Sisulu University (WSU) had a lot to live up to.

On a bright Saturday afternoon, Rhodes University’s first rugby team brought Intervarsity sporting proceedings to a fitting close for the host university, with a comfortable victory over WSU. Rhodes never looked like they were well on their way to winning after they scored a well worked try early in the first half.

WSU did well to initially face up to Rhodes’ physical challenge, but indiscipline cost them.  They conceded penalties and had a player sent off later in the first half. Rhodes upped their game in the second half, and scored three more tries to run out as comfortable victors!

  • I was studying something else about this on another blog. Interesting. Your linear perspective on it is diametrically contradicted to what I read in the first place. I am still mulling over the opposite points of view, but I'm leaning heavily toward yours. And no matter, that's what is so great about contemporary democracy and the marketplace of thoughts on-line.
  • Bravo, what the right words ... great idea
